Creating connections
Wi-Fi upgrade delivers quality living experiences for Saint Hilarion’s residents
The Society of Saint Hilarion provides high-level residential and community care in South Australia’s Seaton and Fulham.
In order to create a caring and home-like environment, Saint Hilarion rely heavily on their onsite technology.
The challenge
The Society of Saint Hilarion were undergoing several projects that would enhance the experience and safety of their residents:
- Point of care software: This would allow staff to cross-check a photo of each resident before dispensing medication, as well as update records on the spot. This ensured temporary staff administered medication accurately, and meant staff could spend time with residents rather than having to go and update records elsewhere.
- Electronic menu management software: This would improve the dining experience for residents by allowing them to choose their order for each meal.
- In-room Wi-Fi access: Reliable coverage in every resident’s room ensured they could use their devices and connect with family and friends whenever they wanted to.
All these projects would depend on secure and reliable Wi-Fi coverage. However at the time, the large two-floor facility had limited and inconsistent Wi-Fi access.
The solution
Having worked with the Society of Saint Hilarion for the past four years, we drew on our extensive knowledge of their business and technology to upgrade their Wi-Fi to a secure and reliable system.
While their internal technology staff were busy with the new projects, we took charge of the Wi-Fi rollout from start to finish.
Secure systems
As Saint Hilarion is dealing with sensitive personal data, we carefully planned the project to ensure the Wi-Fi was highly secure.
Project management
We managed and coordinated with cablers, software vendors and other suppliers, and sourced the required hardware.
Communication
While managing the project, we provided regular in-person feedback to Saint Hilarion on the status and timing of the project.
Having Calvert manage our Wi-Fi rollout freed us up to focus on the projects coming off the back of it. It was efficient, seamless and saved us a huge amount of time.

The outcome
Once the project was complete, the benefit to residents was immediate. Wi-Fi in their rooms, more contact with staff, and better meal services enhanced their day-to-day living.
For the staff, having live, centralised and accurate data for medication dispensing and record-keeping gave them peace of mind.
Going forward, Calvert continues to liaise with the software vendor to ensure modules are kept updated and accessible to Saint Hilarion staff.
A strategic alignment
The Society of Saint Hilarion’s Wi-Fi rollout is just one of many projects undertaken with Calvert as a Strategic Alignment Partner.
Working with organisations in this capacity means we can create efficient and proactive IT strategies that focus on your business objectives for the next two to three years.
For Saint Hilarion, having Calvert as part of their decision making process has meant they can provide real-time advice on strategies, project feasibility and implementation.
