Northern Transportables Case Study

Northern Transportables specialises in the design, manufacture, delivery and installation of transportable buildings. Between their 70-strong team, they provide everything from single cabins to complete mining camps and RAAF houses across many parts of Australia. With multiple locations and more than 60% of the staff operating outside of the head office, they rely on secure and fast network services and remote desktops to provide a stable connection for their team.
Aging infrastructure compromises performance and security
Northern Transportables’ aging infrastructure was causing a host of challenges, particularly the slow speed of the network which was costing each remote employee 1 to 2 hours every week.
It also created holes in their security and put them at risk of data loss and company-wide downtime.
With the company’s administration and management team pressed for time, they needed to rely on a capable and hands-on IT partner to modernise their infrastructure across their multiple locations.

Our initial audit revealed additional challenges and opportunities. Northern Transportables’ network provider had been charging them for expensive, unnecessary services, while they were also experiencing issues with their phone system.
We recommended Northern Transportables move to our private cloud offering, hosted services and telephony. Given the busy schedules of our client’s coordinating team, we orchestrated a tightly managed process that kept them closely informed while minimising their own time investment.
